Frequently asked questions

Everything first-timers and groups usually ask before booking.

How much does a charter cost?

A half day charter starts at $850 for up to six people, with everything included. Prices go up for longer trips and larger groups; groups over 10 are priced per person, up to a 24 passenger maximum. Gear and licenses are covered, no hidden costs.

How many people can come?

We take up to 24 passengers on the Spellbound, all on one boat. Trips run at a flat rate for up to 10 people; groups over 10 are priced per person. See our Large Groups page for planning a big crew.

What if I've never fished offshore?

No problem at all. The crew sets up every rod, walks you through the fight, and handles the gaffing, first-timers land fish all the time.

Do I need a fishing license?

No. The boat's license covers everyone on board, so you do not need to buy your own.

What should I bring?

Sunscreen, a hat and sunglasses, food and drinks, a cooler for your catch, and anything you take for motion sickness, taken before you leave the dock. We provide all rods, reels, bait, tackle and licenses.

Do we keep the fish?

Yes, your catch is filleted and bagged at the dock for you to take home, within legal size and bag limits.

Will I get seasick?

Some people do, some never do. If you are unsure, take motion sickness medication before you leave the dock, not after. The waters close to Miami are often calmer than people expect.

What's your cancellation policy?

Cancellations
All cancellations must be in writing, by email or text. Phone cancellations won't be honored. Putting it in writing avoids double-bookings and date or time mix-ups. Cancel less than 24 hours before your charter, or no-show on the day, and you'll be charged 100% of the charter rate. Give us enough notice to re-book the date and we'll work with you.

Rain or shine
Our charters run rain or shine. We don't cancel for the threat of rain or passing showers. In Miami some rain is in the forecast almost daily, but it's usually brief and fast-moving. We only cancel for genuinely unsafe weather.

Where do trips depart from?

Haulover Marina in Miami Beach, with easy parking and one of the quickest runs to the Gulf Stream in all of Miami.
